ELEKTRA Mark my words this night is far from its end Please spare me your threats and your useless remarks Go ahead, I dare you, take one step closer to this gap baby I'll show you what I mean
A gentle breeze stole the silence of the night, rustling the leaves in the woods. The path in the woods had turned white, covered in a blanket of fresh snow. It shined in the moonlight, making a bright, clear path for the she-wolf as she loped through the forest. Her dark pelt stood out among the snow, but she moved like a shadow, staying on the edge of the path to blend into the dark trees.
Elektra slowed to a walk, her shuddering breath misting the cool air in front of her. Her thick pelt kept her from freezing, but she still felt the biting sting of the chilling night. She slowly stopped, sitting so she could pick the shards of ice from her paws, before it cut and rubbed them raw. Her icy gold eyes darted around as her tongue worked, searching for movement, signs of a previous passage. She found none, and a sigh escaped her maw as she finished, standing, her ears trained for sounds of approach.
She had been walking for a long while, and had just recently entered the territory. Her territory. Well, hers and Stolz's. She had been chosen by his father, without so much say in it herself. It had made her queen, and she had gracefully accepted the arrangement. She had never met Stolz, and she was now supposedly his mate. Her eyes narrowed at the bizarre title. It was strange, but there was not much to do about it.
Shaking off her thoughts, she lifted her head, taking a breath of the cool night air. His scent was definently there, overpowering everything else. She was in the center of their land, and she had not caught a glimpse of another wolf. "C'mon, Stolz.." she muttered quietly. Elektra was determined to meet him tonight, before dawn broke. She wanted to go curl herself up in a warm den, escape the chill, but she had work to do first.
With another soft sigh, she thrust her head into the sky, uttering a gutteral howl, calling her fellow leader and king. It shattered the eery stillness of the forest, and she was sure Stolz would hear her. She finished her call and sat, away from the snow and in the shadows. The wind picked up, swirling the scent of her and Stolz, and sending her song farther into the wilderness. She sat still, the picture of regality and poise. All there was left to do was wait.

Stolz lay in his den, his tail flicking back and forth in irritation. So even after he had beat his father, he was still wanting to dictate his life. Apparently he had hand chosen a mate for him and sent her his way. A growl rumbled through his throat, shaking his coat as it bristled. He could run Koravelle without a Queen! He was doing a fine job without her, so why did he need a Queen? Huffing he rolled onto his back, his paws dangling in the air. He knew that she was coming tonight, word had been sent from his father that she was on her way. Apparently she was a Great Plains wolf like him, because his father thought that all heir pups should be pure bred. Growling once more he shifted his back around, trying to get comfortable. Closing his green eyes he wished for sleep to claim him. That is when he heard it, her howl. His ears twitched, then pinned to try and drown out the sound. The wind blew, causing the howl to echo in his cave. Stolz snarled, rolling over and standing up, marching out of camp.
The large wolf grumbled as he slowly made his way towards this female. He had been told that her name was Elektra. Kicked at the snow at his paws he grumbled some more, acting like a little pup. "I don't want to meet this stupid female. I can run this place on my own!" He kicked at a ball of snow, then yelped as his paw connected with a rock. Holding up his paw he whimpered, blaming it on Elektra. It was the darn females fault... Grumble grumble snort and snarl. Stupid female...
At last the female came into view, sitting there waiting for him. Stolz cleared her throat to catch her attention, composing himself and drawing himself to full height. Walking up to her slowly, he dipped his head in a greeting. "Hello there Elektra. I heard my father sent you to be my Queen. Well, welcome to my- erm, I mean our land. Would you like me to lead you to camp so you can warm up in our den?" he asked, noticing that the air was growing colder. His breath came out misted and he was thankful for his thick built and long fur. She had fur like his, but his held a bit more colour than hers. She would be cold though, and his... their den would be warm. He stood and waited, shifting his weight from paw to paw uncomfortably. He didn't quite know what to do.

ELEKTRA Mark my words this night is far from its end Please spare me your threats and your useless remarks Go ahead, I dare you, take one step closer to this gap baby I'll show you what I mean
Elektra didn't have to wait long for a response. Within minutes, she could hear a sort of grumbling echoing through the trees. It was about her. Her eyes rolled in irritation. So this was how it was going to be. She was going to stand and wait for his approach when she heard a yelp, followed by more mutters, blaming herself for whatever had happened. The sound had shocked her into stillness, and she was still seated when he came through the trees.
Once he came into sight, she stood, nodding to him in greeting. Her ears pricked when she heard him begin to speak, noticing the trip in his words when he said my instead of our. She felt almost guilty. She had been sent by his father to rule beside him, without any notice whatsoever. Was it right for her to have accepted? A million thoughts flit through her head at once, and she mentally shook them away. She had a part to play.
The answering smile was small and serene, trying as best as she could to be kind to him. It was the least she could do after putting him through this, which was probably hell for him. "Hello, Stolz. I would have sent notice of my coming, but I figured you had already heard." His father had probably told him of the arrangement, which would be irritating to him, and would have been hilarious for her to watch. The King was still ruled by his father, so it seemed.
As he continued to speak, the wind picked up and ruffled her fur, sending small shivers down her spine. It grew colder the longer they stood here, and she was anxious to get out of the cold, but she didn't want to rush the meeting of the wolf she would probably spend the rest of her life with. The thought made her uneasy. He had not made a bad impression, but he also hadn't made a good one. She didn't trust him, and she made no move to further her friendliness. She knew he didn't care for her, and actually despised the fact that she would be ruling beside him. She let the breath out of her lungs slowly, deflating along with them. Her head remained high, but she wanted to voice her conflicting emotions. That was not possible. She would not show weakness in front of this wolf, who would now dictate her life and her land. There were more important things to do than whine or cry about hurt feelings. From now on, her feelings would need to be pushed into the back of her brain. Her emotions were no longer important. So, with her thoughts gathered and a casual indifference settling over her sturdy featured, she spoke once more. "Going to the den sounds like a good idea. The weather is getting worse, and it looks as if it might snow again."

The brute knew that he had made a pretty crappy impression, but so many emotions were racing through his heart. He was irritated at his father, and mad that he hadn't been more polite to this female. He was usually very kind, but tonight he seemed to be different. Change, and as sudden as this one, made him uncomfortable. He liked being in charge of his life, and having this shoved on him almost scared him. Almost. He would never admit to feeling fear, he was too proud for that.
When the female spoke, he heard that she seemed to be holding emotions back. Stolz bit his tongue, he was more angry with himself now. He should treat this lady with respect, she didn't have much of a choice. If he had been in her place he would have jumped into action if this opportunity had been presented to him. So all in all he couldn't blame her. His ear twitched, realizing that she had spoken. "Yes, our pack has many quick willed wolves that carry messages faster than most," A genuine smile spread across his maw, eyes twinkling with pride. Their pack was strong. She then accepted his words to return to the den. Turning back towards camp, he looked over his shoulder and waited for her to walk to his side.
Once inside camp Stolz paused to let the female see the inside before flicking his tail, walking into their shared den. Settling on his rump he curled his tail around his paws. Once Elektra was comfortable, he opened his maw and began to speak. "I must apologize for my initial impression, my lady, but this was thrust on me rather quickly. Apparently my father thinks he can make this call for me, and I did not mean to take this frustration out on you," The multicoloured wolf shifted forward and nuzzled her shoulder, inhaling her scent and memorizing it. They would be spending a lot of time together, and he may as well get all of this thoughts out in the open. Pulling his head back, he opened his maw and spoke once again. "Elektra, I am glad that my dad sent you at least. I was expecting him to send the scrawniest and nastiest wolf that he knew. I am glad to see that you are quite beautiful and that you have already showed that you can handle me. I promise you though, I can get worse. This is your warning," There was laughter in his voice and in his eyes as well. Wagging his tail slowly, he met her yellow eyes with his green ones.
"Is there anything you wish to say, my Queen?"

ELEKTRA Mark my words this night is far from its end Please spare me your threats and your useless remarks Go ahead, I dare you, take one step closer to this gap baby I'll show you what I mean
Elektra followed the brute back to the den, walking behind him, away from his line of sight, to give herself a chance to think without her face giving away anything that may show. He seemed nice enough, at the moment. Things could get, better, and they could get worse. Whichever happened, she would ride through it, and do what was needed. She was his Queen now, and she would be treated with respect. The thought made her shoulders lift, and she walked a little faster, moving to his flank.
Once they reached the den, she looked around. It was quaint, and looked much warmer than her current position. She waited for him to enter, then followed behind, sitting in front of him. She watched his face, her eyes carefully guarded. What would he say next? She didn't have to wait long. Within moments, his gruff voice filled the silence. To her utter surprise, it was an apology. Once he had finished speaking, she opened her delicate maw to reply. "I didn't expect any different, Stolz. I know my role in this has altered things, and I knew you might not take it well."
Elektra gave him a small smile when he nuzzled her shoulder. He was being genuine in his kindness. Or so it seemed. He be a good liar, for all she knew. She took a deep breath, noting the specific smell of the male. She was going to be around him all the time, so she may as well get used to it. Things were going to be rocky for a long while, and she was ready for the ride. No matter what he threw at her, she was ready to throw it back.
When he spoke again, her smile widened. Of course she would be able to handle him. There was no amusement in the words, but his tone was light, full of laughter. Her icy eyes sparkled in response. "And I can assure you, no matter how bad I seem to get, there will always be worse. I can be quite horrible, actually." She spoke in a very matter-of-fact tone, amusement tickling her emotions as she bit back laughter. No, there would always be worse. She hoped to never get to that point, but she may, one day. And she felt guilt course through her again. Stolz was quite the unlucky fellow, when it came down to it.
When he spoke once more, her eyes locked onto his. "Yes, my King. There is much to say, but most of it you will be spared from tonight. I do want to know the current position of our pack. How many do we have?" She felt foolish, asking him about things she should have figured out on her own. This was the quickest way, however, and she was not about to go out again, counting wolves.

Stolz did not leave her much time to look around, he wanted to talk right away. Silence was okay, but he felt that maybe talking and getting to know each other better. They would be together for the rest of their lives, so why not start now? He wanted to know what he had to look forward to, what she liked to eat, what she didn't like to do, and what she didn't like hearing. If they wanted heirs, they needed to work at their relationship now. The brute felt a blush spread throughout his body at the thought of procreating. He had no need to worry about that now, that was to come later; hopefully. Shaking his head to clear away his thoughts, Stolz focused his attention on the female before him.
Elektra's words comforted him, a long breath whispering between his lips. "It still was not fair for me to treat you that way. No matter the situation, wolves should be treated with respect. Especially my own Queen. I'm glad that I did not disappoint you, I was rather worried about that," Shaking his head slowly, he took in a deep breath and visibly relaxed more. They seemed to become open and honest with each other, which made him very relaxed and in his element. His strings had been drawn tight at their first encounter, but now he was able to give them some slack. Finally
Stolz was happy to see a smile on the females face, it made his grow in size too. They seemed to be doing good at this, they were very similar. "Well then we seem to be quite a couple then, my dear. I do not have a short temper, but when I am angered I am mad for quite a long time. I try to push it back, but anger is quite a powerful emotion," It was strange, how easily they were talking of the future. It frightened him slightly, but it also made his paws tingle with excitement. He couldn't wait until their pack grew, he could feel the need boil in his blood.
Yes, my King. There is much to say, but most of it you will be spared from tonight. I do want to know the current position of our pack. How many do we have?"
His smile faded at her words, his paws shuffling. "Not nearly enough Elektra. Two have joined recently, a dog names Sayang and a brute named Scabir. We need to add to our numbers as soon as we can. We could go to Auktion Rock and pick some Sklavin," he paused, spitting out the word he hated so much. "It would give them a second chance at life, as I do not agree with having Sklavin." Flicking his tail tip he met her eyes again, a small smile returning to his lips. "Enough wolves have been wandering into our lands with the hope of joining our ranks, so I have high hopes that we will increase our members."

Emotions played across Stolz's face as she watched him. Embarrassment was the key emotion she saw, and her brow furrowed in confusion for a moment. What was there to be embarrassed about? Puzzled, she remained quiet, waiting as he spoke again. She nodded in agreement when he spoke of her not being disappointed. No, she had expected much worse, and the fact that they were having a pleasant conversation was a bit of a shock to her. No, he had not disappointed. She didn't know what to expect from this stranger, and that intrigued her.
Her eyes twinkled in amusement as his statement. "Yes, anger is a very strong emotions. I find it quite hard to control it. Sometimes I just.. lose myself." She remembered the times she had let her anger get the best of her, unable to control her actions. It was gruesome, and she felt like a prisoner in her own mind when her rage took over. She shuttered delicately. Elektra could no longer let that happen. It would lead to horrible consequences, and she was determined to keep her head.
When he answered her question, the news was grim. Her face fell, her brows furrowing in concentration. A mere two had joined their ranks. A dog and a wolf. She had never seen a dog before, and she smiled at the idea of meeting her. She would need to introduce herself to her pack soon. His other words registered and she glanced away for a moment. "Yes, that seems to be a good idea. There are many there, and we could gain some numbers." The truth was, Auktion Rock terrified her. She had heard only bad things about the place, something she did not want to experience. She shook her head slightly and looked again at him. "I am sure we will gain followers soon. But do tell me about the other two that have joined us. Sayang and Scabir?"

Stolz saw that Elektra was giving him strange looks, and he realized that his emotions were playing across his face. The brute chuckled softly, smiling at the female. He knew that he showed his emotions a lot, but there was no use in trying to cover them up. He knew that the poor female was probably very last when it came to him, but they had just met. There was still a lot more that they needed to learn about each other. He knew that many questions had to be asked, and much more answered. This was going to be a long night, and he knew it.
He nodded in agreement, not knowing what else to add on to this part of the conversation. He knew that he would come up with something soon enough, he always did. "Don't be afraid to get angry at me if you need to vent. I am good at handling wolves yelling at me. And I will never get mad at you back. We need to learn to rule together, to be best friends." Stolz's tail thumped on the ground and he stepped forward, nuzzling Elektra on the cheek. "We will learn to maybe be more." he whispered before pulling away.
Watching her face fell, he cursed himself for dropping the ball on her so suddenly. A soft whine rumbled out of his maw and he looked down, ashamed that he had not done a better job of gaining more pack members. He had been trying, but not everything had gone smoothly with the Alpha's. Not everything was as controlled as he wished it to be. When he talked of the Auktion Rock he could see that his new mate did not like that place. "I don't like it either my Queen, my Elektra. It is not a place of happiness. But we do save them, because I will not tolerate Sklavin in out pack.
"I am sure we will gain followers soon. But do tell me about the other two that have joined us. Sayang and Scabir?"
A smile returned to his lips, and his tail thumped a few more times. "They are both runners, sleek and quick. Scabir is a Freiherr, and he is an interesting wolf to talk to. He carries quite the interesting conversations. And Sayang... I have never seen anything like her. She is a Freifrau as well, but she is pregnant. She is carrying the first litter of Koravelle in her." A huge smile was now present on his face, excitement making his paws tingle. "Is there anything else you would like to know?"

She listened to the brutes chuckle at her confusion, smiling at her. He had obviously seen that she had caught his embarrassment, but did not mind. Jeez, he was strange. Every time he did something was a reminder that he was a stranger. Her mate was a stranger. Elektra was becoming used to the term, and did not flinch when her mind uttered it. How things have changed in the short amount of time they had been with each other.
At his next statement, a bubble of laughter shot from her mouth before she could stop it. "Oh, I have no doubt I will be angry with you. It's simply the way I am." When he added maybe more.. she sobered up, nodding softly. "That is a possibility, Stolz." The thought was staggering. It shouldn't have been a surprise to her. They were mates, after all. They would have an image to maintain, and it would be easier if it were true, instead of a game, an act to convince their subjects that all was well in the King and Queen's lives. And the King would want heirs, wouldn't he? The thought of having pups made her uneasy, and she shook off the thought before she made a fool of herself.
When she reacted to the lack of members, a soft whine emanated from his maw, and faced the ground, seeming ashamed. Her lips twitched, upset that she had defeated this male so utterly with a simple expression. What the hell was going on? He soon recovered, giving her a small description of the new members. The one that stood out was the dog. "Pregnant, is she? I may have to pay her a visit sooner or later." Elektra gave a small smile. She had a soft spot for puppies, and she wanted this female, Sayang, to be as comfortable as possible.
At his next question, her eyes softened, and a gentle smile parted her maw. "Of course. I want to know everything, Stolz. But I have no idea where to start." This was new to her, and she felt sure it was new to him as well. He had probably had more experience answering questions, but not to her, not to someone of her ranking. She was confused, and she didn't like the feeling. Things had been going along well, but would they plummet now?

He was happy to hear her laugh, happy that he was able to make this female laugh. They had just met, but they could be spending the rest of their lives together. They needed to get to know each other, the others wants and needs. What made her laugh? What made her cry? These were all things that he needed to learn. He needed to know how to provide for her, her favorite snacks and meals. What she was looking for in this relationship. There was so much, so many days they would need to spend learning these facts. Elektra told her that she would indeed get mad at him, that is who she was. With another small chuckle he thumped his tail on the ground a few times. "I will not argue that point, Elektra. I can be a rather frustrating wolf, I will tell you that now," Then the words that followed made that smile disappear from her face once more, her whole body becoming stiff. Damn... he had made a wrong move. He always talked before he thought it through. Stolz brows furrowed, clicking his tongue softly. "Sorry... I do not often think before the words leave my mouth. I did not mean to startle you."
His head lifted when he spoke of their new members, his tail flicking a few times as he thought. "I know, I am rather excited to have little ones running around. I love pups, they are the future and they are so cute," his eyes lit up, but he soon sobered his expression. They needed more members, and they both knew it. "I am sure Sayang would love your support, she has a hard past behind her. But we need more members. We should plan a trip to the lands to look for more, although not both of us can go. One of us must always remain in the pack lands. But of course that will be later, it is almost midnight after all," he said, looking out of the mouth of their cave and into the night. He almost shocked himself, on how easily his vocabulary had changed. His became theirs. Single became mates. So easily had his mind shifted, and it was startling that he had accepted it so easily. He remembered that a mere hour ago, he had been laying in this very den, not wanting to leave to greet this female. He glanced back at her now, meeting her eyes. Here she was, in their den, no longer his.
Stolz watched her expression, softening as she smiled again. His tail thumped again, his lips twitching up in a smile. "How about we start with the basics then? What is your favorite food?" he asked, laughing at his first question for her. They had to start somewhere, did they not? He slid down on his belly, something that he would never do in front of a pack mate. He was allowing her to be taller than him, something that no Alpha male would do to a female. This was not any female though, she was his Queen. He had to respect her. Love could come later, if it came at all.
